Resume ready

Before applying for relocation offer, you must first prepare yourself. You can prepare yourself in many ways. You can prepare yourself based on what technology is going on in the market, what is demanded. You can earn a few professional certifications. However, if you do not prepare yourself, if you do not present yourself in your resume or CV, then there will be no profit. Even referring someone you know will reduce your chances of being shortlisted.

A few days ago I shared some resume tips for juniors on Facebook. I thought I’d write it down here.

• Name Capitalization Incorrect : The first thing you should read when watching a CV is the eye. Correctly writing the name is not just a CV, mail body, cover letter, email account name is always important. Many people see all the lowercase or all the capital case names. Without sufficient reason or style, such writing is inappropriate.
• Non-alignment of font sizes of different sections : Many see the name on the CV written in the normal font (usually 3 or 4), but they have given the font size to enter the project name and description. They also look very bad. A document should not use more than 2-5 sizes. At the same time, there is no need to bolt unnecessarily. Even if there is a consistency. For example, all year or project years can be italicized. Or all company names can be bolded.
• Miscellaneous Technologies Names : Javascript, Django, java, php, mysql, html, openGL, UBUNTU, MAC OS all have incorrect capitalization. If anyone works for 5 years with a technology, then misspelling will not be accepted. On top of that, the string case is a very important thing.
• Sample Term Release Online : / where I can utilize my skills and potential efficiently, / / ​​I have strong management skill /, / I can work under pressure / Term like these are very well known. As well as working in a project or company, the manager or Timlid will understand after six months or a year how much stress or how much pressure you can take. So even though it may be a little thoughtful, it should be time to think about the object or the summary part. And of course not exactly copying from anyone.
• Copying Others’ CV / Resume Format : Nowadays everyone has a CV / Resume. So, it should not be the same format for everyone. For example, the CV of an entrepreneur or a product manager’s CV, and not a graphics designer’s or a multimedia expert’s CV. So it would be best not to blindly imitate. And imitating it is good to follow it with wisdom. As a senior engineer who has been working in the market for 5 years, the reason why he claims 5/5 skill in PHP / Java may not be the same for everyone. So it’s foolish to claim yourself a 4/5 star by comparing it with him.
• Online portfolio: Nowadays everyone has blogs, websites. Or even if these are not GitHub, LinkedIn. It is seen that a few days before sending the CV, GitHub opened the repo and uploaded the same project on the same day and gave it a link. It’s good in one direction. The problem is, if you do not maintain the project, or have no documentation or screenshots of the project, the project will not work. And recruiters don’t even have time to check inside your code. So if you project try to write README beautifully. You can also give a sample command / screenshot. And yes, don’t build a repository with binary files, object files, APK / IPK files. Whether for security or for alchemy, no one will take down your binary and install it. Try publishing on Sourceforge / Play Store / App Store. And if there is no project, So no need to just give GitHub links. It can cause unnecessary upset.
• Not counting margins, alignments, padding : Many people do not maintain the format properly while making the CV. Then work with the text box. And the textbox may not match the original margin of the document. As a result, the writing is bent aside. Or the 9th Ward has gone to the next page. Or, as many people have seen in writing educational backgrounds, Sal, Varsity’s name, CGPA, has written these similar columns. As a result, the name of Varsity has become 2-5 lines. However, CGPA is currently available with 20% of the available pages. These mistakes can be fixed with a little effort.
• PDF / docx / zip not just sending PDFs: Usually the most common document in PDF format is. Then if you want a recruiter, or have a form function, you can provide a dock file. However, many times, only the docx file was sent. This can also be a cause for annoyance because the latest Microsoft Office may not be on everyone’s PC or all the designs can be randomized to convert the document. Many can be seen as a hardy mustard. Zips over PDF and sends. They just cause resentment.
• Understand the difference between the name of the company and the technologyOn many CVs, it is written in either Oracle Expert, or Windows XP / Ten Expert, or Linux Expert. Most companies have multiple products. For example, if I say Oracle, will I understand the Oracle database, or understand Java, or understand MySQL? Again Linux, however, has many sections like Networking, Security, Applications, Embedded, Infrastructure. Many people see this in HTML, CSS, Expert. Now HTML, CSS is the pre-Choo framework in the market. If there is a specific framework then it should be named Mansion. In the same way, there are lots of things on the Windows platform including C Sharp, WPF, .NET, ASP.NET, Driver Development, MFC. Expert on Windows XP or 8 means I can also assume that you are an expert to setup. Haha And yes But not all that IDE can do. So being familiar with JetBrains or VS means that you won’t always be caught up in Expert. So it’s nice to be very specific.
• Attending Seminars and Courses : Many may disagree with me on this point. It is almost like I saw CVT taking part in a robotics or LICT course or seminar. Well, when I see a CV like this, I skip the seminar section. It is not true that anyone will ever become a good programmer if they attend seminars or bootcamps. But yes, if anyone can go to a seminar or bootcamp to build a portfolio of something they can learn, then it is definitely worth it. So for the seminar I attended the 3 solid project without having to write the type 1 solid project that has been Maintained, it is good to have such thing in CV.

The point is, make your resume such that, at a glance, the recruiter understands what you are expecting or where your potentials are strongest. This is why a resume is good for one to two pages. It is best not to do anything so that recruiters are not disturbed. And yes, give your contact number correctly, especially your name, phone number, email and home address so that it doesn’t go wrong. Because later on all your contracts, visa applications, bank accounts, etc. will be created under these names.

Given the interview

If you like referring your resume or applying for a relocation offer, you will receive an interview call from HR or relocated companies. Usually these interviews are done in a few steps. The first step can be a simple phone call (Skype or Hangouts), the next step will be two technical interviews where the senior engineers of the company will verify you. If they give you the green signal you will be taken to the CEO or those in the lead position. They will examine your non-technical issues, such as your leadership, how you set up a job, How to get work done affecting others. It will also be verified as a human being there. Finally if you are called from HR then you will be shortlisted. Basically at this level you will be asked questions like when will you be able to win a salary So do not neglect any step. There are some things to keep in mind when giving an interview.

• Understand correctly during the interview. Your timezone may differ from company to country. So set a time mutually. If you can, then keep your direction flexible as it will take you to the working hours of the company. You will prepare accordingly.
• Install useful apps (Skype or Google Hangouts) when interviewing online. Keep good internet connection ready. You can keep the mobile data ready so that the connection is gone when the connection is gone.
• If there is a video interview, please wear a formal dress. At the same time keep your background clean (if homeless). Never give interviews outside the home (on the ground, on the terrace, in restaurants). It’s really good to have someone unwanted in the room while you’re online.
• If you do not want to use mobile phone for video call, you can buy webcam.
• Be as relaxed as possible during the interview. Answer exactly what the question will be. Explain if you know, or skip if you don’t know. Don’t pretend not to know. And answer as needed. We want to say more than everything. It would be better to skip this habit.
• Say words, thank yous, etc. as per your need. If you do not understand, please ask again.
• If you can keep HR in the mail at the end of the interview then it will be easy for you to follow up.

বাংলাদেশ তথা উন্নয়নশীল বিশ্বে মেধাপাচার বা ব্রেইন ড্রেইন নামে একটা পপুলার ধারণা চালু আছে কিন্তু দুঃখজনকভাবে খুব কন মানুশ-ই আছে যারা এব্যাপারে ক্রিটিকালী চিন্তা করতে পারে। ক্রিটিকালী চিন্তা করার পূর্বশর্ত হল নিজেকে কয়েকটা প্রশ্ন করা এবং তার উত্তর খোঁজার চেষ্টা করা। কিন্তু বাংলাদেশে মূল ধারণার চেয়ে ভুল ধারণা অতি দ্রুত প্রসারিত হয় কারণ এখানে মানুষের ভিতর ক্রিটিকাল থিঙ্কিং এর ধারণাটায় নেই যেটা আছে সেটা হল আবেগ নির্ভর কিছু মুখস্থ বুলি যেটা অনেক শিক্ষিত মানুষও দিনের পর দিন আওড়ে যান কিন্তু সত্য কি মিথ্যা, যতার্থ কি অযৌক্তিক এটা কখনও ভেবে দেখেন না। যাহোক মেধা পাচার বোঝার আগে যে প্রশ্নগুলির উত্তর জানা জরুরী তার ভিতর হল, মেধা পাচার কি বা এই শব্দটা কোন কোন ক্ষেত্রে প্রযোজ্য, অন্তর্নিহিত কারণ কি এবং এক্ষেত্রে রাষ্ট্রের বা সমাজের দায় কতটুকু?

প্রথম আলোচনা করা যাক-

বাই ডেফিনিশন মেধাপাচার বা ব্রেইন ড্রেইন বলতে যেটা বোঝায় সেটা হল স্বল্পোন্নত দেশের উচ্চশিক্ষিত এবং দক্ষ মানুষজন যখন উন্নত জীবনের আশায় উন্নত বিশ্বের কোনো দেশে স্থায়ীভাবে ইমিগ্রেট করে। ব্রেইন ড্রেইন রুট লেভেল থেকে বুঝতে হলে এই ডেফিনিশন টা বোঝা খুব-ই জরুরী। একজন উচ্চশিক্ষিত মানুষ বা দক্ষ কর্মী তৈরী করতে যেকোনো রাষ্ট্রের অনেক রিসোর্চ ইনভেস্ট করতে হয়। সেক্ষেত্রে আমি স্বীকার করি এমন একজন মানুষ স্থায়ীভাবে দেশত্যাগ করলে এটা স্বল্পোন্নত দেশের জন্য ক্ষতির কারণ হতে পারে কিন্তু বাংলাদেশ থেকে যারা উন্নত দেশে যার তাদের অধিকাংশ অনার্স পাশ করে চলে যায় এবং সেসময় তাদেরকে মোটেও উচ্চশিক্ষিত বা দক্ষ কর্মীদের কাতারে ফেলার আমি পক্ষপাতী না। যদি আমার কথায় ধরি, আমি অনার্স পাশ করার পর যখন দেশ ছাড়ছি সেসময় দেশে যদিও চাকরীর চেষ্টা করিনি তারপরও আমি জানি ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের গ্রাজুয়েট হওয়ার পরও আমার পরিবারকে সাপোর্ট দেওয়ার মত ছোটখাট একটা চাকরী যোগানোও আমার জন্য দুঃসাধ্য হত। এর পর আমি যে এখানে পড়তে আসছি এটা পুরোটায় আমেরিকার টাকা অর্থাৎ এখানে দেশের টাকায় পড়ে বিদেশ সেবা করার প্রশ্নটায় আসেনা। দ্বিতীয়ত, আমি এখানে থাকলেও আমার পুরো পরিবার দেশে থাকে অর্থাৎ আমি প্রতিমাসেই কমবেশি কিছু পরিমাণ টাকা দেশে পাঠায় যার অর্থ দাড়ায় আমি দেশের ইকোনমিতে ডিরেক্টলি কন্ট্রিবিউট করছি। আজকে আমরা যে দেশের উন্নয়ন উন্নয়ন করে গলাবাজি করি একবার ভেবে দেখেছেন এটা কাদের অবদান? এই অবদান এই দেশের গার্মেন্টস শ্রমিক আর মালয়েশিয়া বা মধ্যপ্রাচ্যজুড়ে কন্সট্রাকশন কর্মীদের।

আমি যখন হাইস্কুলে পড়ি তখন একবার শুনলাম বাংলাদেশের অ্যাপোলো হাসপাতালে একজন ইন্ডিয়ান ডাক্তার আছে তার মান্থলি স্যালারি ৮ লক্ষ টাকা! এরকম কথা শোনার পরও অনেকের অনেক রকম প্রতিক্রিয়া হতে পারে কিন্তু আমার তৎক্ষণাৎ প্রতিক্রিয়া ছিল- “তার মানে একজন মাত্র মানুষ প্রতি মাসে আমার দেশের ৮ লক্ষ টাকা তার দেশে নিয়ে যাচ্ছে?! আমরা কি পারিনা আমাদের নিজের দেশের মানুষগুলো এই পোস্টে বসাতে তাহলে দেশের টাকাটা দেশে থাকতো! আমরাও বিদেশে পাঠায় কিন্তু কাদের? আমরা যাদের পাঠায় তারা মালয়েশিয়া বা মধ্যপ্রাচ্যে যেয়ে মাসে পায় ২০ থেকে ৩০ হাজার। থাকা খাওয়া বাদ দিয়ে দেশে পাঠায় ১৫-২০ হাজার, অর্থাৎ, ওদের একজন আমাদের দেশের যে টাকা নিয়ে যাচ্ছে, আমাদের ৪০ জন লাগছে সেটা করতে! এটা ভাবলেই আমার কান্না পায়! তখন থেকে আমি ভাবতাম আমরা কি পারিনা আমাদের দেশের মানুষদেরকে আমরা শ্রমিক হসেবে না পাঠিয়ে উচ্চশিক্ষিত এবং দক্ষ করে পাঠাতে? কেমন হত যদি বিশ্ব আমাদেরকে শ্রমিক হিসেবে না চিনে বড় বড় ইউনিভার্সিটির নামজাদা সব প্রফেসর বা কর্পোরেট কোম্পানি গুলোর চিফ এক্সিকিউটিভ হিসেবে চিনত?

আরেকটা গুরত্বপূর্ণ দিক হল আমাদের দেশে যে পরিমাণ গ্রাজুয়েট স্টুডেন্ট প্রতিবছর বের হয় সে তুলনায় চাকরির বাজার খুবই অপ্রতুল আর এই সমস্যা উত্তরণে আমাদের উচিৎ বাইরের দেশে সেখানেই সুযোগ আছে এক্সপ্লোর করা। কিন্তু আমরা উল্টা করি প্রতি পদে পদে বাধা সৃষ্টি করি! সব বাধা অতিক্রম করে যখন দেখি উন্নত দেশে কেউ অনেক বেশি সাকসেসফুল হয়ে গেছে তখন দেশবাসীর কাছে দুইটা প্রতিক্রিয়া দেখা যায়- ১) একশ্রেণি আছে আওড়াতে থাকে আমাদের দেশের ছেলেমেয়ে আজ বাইরে বিরাট সাফল্য অর্জন করছে, আমাদের ছেলেমেয়েরা ইউরোপ আমেরিকার ইউনিভার্সিটি কাপিয়ে বেড়াচ্ছে, সব আমাদের অবদান, আমরা নিজ হাতে গড়ে দিয়েছি! আরে বেটা দেশে থাকতে তো পাত্তাই দিসনি এগুলোরে! ২) আরেক শ্রেণী হিংসায় জলতে থাকে আর গালি দিতে থাকে; বলে ইহ! দেশের টাকায় পড়ালেখা করে দেশকে ভুলে যেয়ে এখন বিদেশের তাবেদারি করছে! এসব বলে বা ফেসবুকের পোস্ট বা কমেন্টে ঝড় তুলে তারা বিরাট দেশপ্রেমিক বনে যান!

তবে হ্যাঁ, কিছু কিছু ক্ষেত্রে এর একটা কুফল আছে যেমন- কেউ যদি তার পুরো ফ্যামিলি নিয়ে মুভ করে দেশে কোনো টাকা না পাঠায় বা বিদেশেই সব খরচ বা ইনভেস্ট করে সেক্ষেত্রে এটা দেশের জন্য একটা বামার। কিন্তু প্রশ্ন হল এটা যারা করে তারা হল সংখ্যালঘু আর মাথামোটা উচ্চবিত্ত শ্রেণি, তারা বিদেশের নাগরিক হতে পারাটা তাদের জীবনের অনেক বড় সাফল্য মনে করে। তাদের অধিকাংশ বিদেশে পড়ে বিদেশ সরকার বা ইউনিভার্সিটির টাকায় না। তারা দেশের টাকা বিদেশে নিয়ে নিজের খরচে পড়ে। এটা দেশের টাকা বিদেশে যাওয়ার আরেকটা পাইপলাইন। খোঁজ নিয়ে দেখবেন দেশের মন্ত্রী (ভৃত্য) এমপিদের ভিতরে এরকম বেশি পাবেন কিন্তু এটা আমাদের মত সংখ্যা গরিষ্ঠরা না, কারণ আমাদের সে সামর্থ্য নাই। আমাদের যা করতে হয় সেটা মাথার জোরেই করতে হয়।

অন্তর্নিহিত কারণ কি সমাজ বা রাষ্ট্রের যায় এবং?

সাধ করে কেউ চাইনা দেশ, পরিবার-পরিজন ছেড়ে হাজার হাজার মাইল দূরে থাকতে। সুযোগ পেলে সবাই চায় নিজের দেশে থাকতে দেশের জন্য কিছু করতে। কিন্তু, আমাদের দেশে মেধাবী স্টুডেন্ট দের বা মানুষদের ফিরিয়ে আনার কি কি উদ্যোগ নেওয়া হয়েছে? আমি এখন যেখানে আছি আমি হয়ত ভবিষ্যতে হার্ভার্ড ইউনিভার্সিটির প্রফেসর হওয়ার যোগ্যতা রাখি কিন্তু আমি চাইলেও ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের টিচার হতে পারবোনা! যে দেশে বিটিভির উন্নয়নে প্রায় ২০০০ কোটি টাকার বাজেট হয় (একটা উদাহরণ মাত্র চাইলে হাজারটা দেওয়া যাবে), সেদেশে জ্ঞ্যান বিজ্ঞ্যান গবেষণায় টাকা পাওয়া যায়না। সেদেশে সায়েন্টিফিক রিসার্চ প্রপোজাল ইভ্যালুয়েট করা বা রিসার্চের ফান্ড কোথায় দিতে হবে আর কোথায় দিতে হবেনা সেটা ভির্ভর করে সচিব আর ভৃত্যদের ফোন কলের উপর। আমি এবারো দেশে যাওয়ার পর কিছু স্যার চাইছিলেন আমি যে বিষয়ে রিচার্স করি তার উপর ডিপার্ট্মেন্টে একটা সেমিনার দেই। ডিপার্ট্মেন্টের চেয়ারম্যান আমার মুখের উপর বলে ঐসব জ্ঞ্যান ট্যান আমাদের লাগেনা, আমরা স্যাচুরেটেড। সরকারি অফিসের কথা নাই বললাম! পাসপোর্ট রিনিউ করতে গেছিলাম সেই অভিজ্ঞতার কথা মনে পড়লে এখনও জ্বর আসে! আমার কথা হল হুম বিদেশে কর্মরত সব মেধাবী মানুষগুলো দেশে ফিরে আসবে দেশ কি তাদের নেওয়ার জন্য প্রস্তুত? দেশে অভাব থাকলে সবাই মিলে একবেলা করে না খেয়ে থাকব কিন্তু অর্থের অপচয়, ক্ষমতার অপব্যবহার, মেধার অবমূল্যায়ন এগুলোর প্রতিকার কোথায়?
